Ardahan takes place among the provinces having foreign trade surplus and its total foreign trade volume ranks as 80th. Its total trade volume is for 2,1 million dollars. Export for 2,06 million dollars and import for 96 thousand dollars were carried out in Ardahan in 2017. 0,5% of the export carried out in TRA2 region is carried out by Ardahan and the 82% of export activities of Ardahan is carried out to Georgia. When the export structure of Ardahan is examined, it is understood to consist of manufacturing industry, mining and quarrying product groups. When the sub-product groups are examined in the manufacturing industry, it cement, lime, gypsum, agricultural and forestry machinery, soap, detergent, cleansing and cosmetic materials are seen while the mining and quarrying sub-product groups are examined, salt is seen. All of the products exported are products which are produced outside of Ardahan. Foreign trade volume of Ardahan is expected to increase in the following years with the improvement of transportation infrastructure, launch of using the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway actively and increase in the recognition of Aktaş and Türkgözü Boundary Doors.
Foreign Trade Activities of Our Country with TRA2 Area Neighbor Countries
TRA2 Area is neighbor with Georgia in Ardahan, with Armenia in Kars, with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran in Iğdır and Iran in Ağrı. We have not commercial relations with Armenia because of “Nagorno Karabagh ”occupation. Our foreign trade relation with Georgia, Azerbaijan and Iran has been highly improved and our data regarding the foreign trade are as follows:
